With its fresh new look, new owner and a stable of top sponsored athletes, SDG COMPONENTS rolled into the Sea Otter Classic with lofty expectations and
came away with phenomenal feedback and several podium spots. Opting to partner with Northern California’s anchor retailer - RideSFO (rideSFO.com) – new president Tyler Anspach and his longtime lieutenant, Chris Han, used the RideSFO booth as their base camp. Heavy consumer traffic, a DJ and a cloudless blue sky made for a solid weekend for the globe’s premier saddle brand.

“Feedback regarding the new logo was tremendous both from the trade and consumers alike,” said Anspach. “Between unveiling the updated logo and our sponsored athletes’ performance, the weekend couldn’t have been better!”
After eight years with SDG USA, Anspach acquired the brand last month, formed SDG COMPONENTS and continues to build on the heritage and brand equity that has been synonymous with the iconic saddle maker for the past 14 years. The Sea Otter Classic offered a natural backdrop for Anspach to convey his ‘new day’ mantra to the bicycle industry. He has moved quickly to freshen up the logo, adding an avatar-like ‘bug.’
“We’ll continue build on the authenticity of the SDG brand, while making some modifications to the overall look and feel as well,” Anspach said. “There’s no need to reinvent the wheel – but simply refine and add consistency to our go-to-market strategy.”
Solid Results for SDG COMPONENTS Athletes:
Pro Men’s DH: Mick Hannah (AUS) is back on the circuit for 2009, racing for Factory GT and took top honors. Andrew Neethling (SA) on the newly formed Trek World Racing team finished 3rd, with his Kiwi teammate Justin Leov taking 4th. SDG COMPONENTS had nine out of the top 15 on the I-Beam
Technology.
Pro Women’s DH: Tracy Moseley (GBR), also on Trek World Racing, fresh off her Round 1 World Cup Victory topped off in 1st again!
Pro Men’s Dual Slalom: The racing was intense and every heat was close – keeping the packed crowd on their toes. Sam Hill (AUS), Team Monster Energy / Specialized / I-Beams made his first of many top podiums to come this season, as he garnered 1st place. Cody Warren (US), Specialized Team

they've always looked great but i could never run em cuz they've never been that comfortable.
They're light, strong, and aren't relatively expensive, that's pretty much all that matters to me (and they look cool too). Absolutely it hurts on extended rides but it's worth it to me.
why use a product thats not comfortable? you buy a saddle to sit on, so why get one that you know is going to hurt just because it looks good or is cheap?
theres plenty of other options out there!

It IS comfortable for 95% of my riding, when I say extended rides I mean like hour plus stuff on flat bike paths. If I was going to optimize my bike for bike paths, it would be terrible for DH etc. I don't sit very often, and as long as I don't sit for a long time it is perfectly fine. I have my saddle there to literally save my as* just as much as to sit on, and it does that very well too. If I can get something that I like as much as this, and that weighs as little as it does, why spend several times as much on a Thomson/SLR?
As I said before, it is absolutely worth it to me and I'll buy it again in a heartbeat.

its the i-beam seats that arn't that comfy, their Ti-fly, titanium railed saddle is super comfy for a slim saddle as there is a nice amount of flex in the rails.. the Ti-fly c is a little heavier, but even comfier
My I-fly is as uncomfy as a plank of wood, but I could not care less as it weighs so little, and 90% of the time I don't use it.

The new Formula FX is more comfortable because it has flex built in. I agree that the old saddles weren't the most comfortable, but they're working on it.
looks like most of their sponsored are on DH, 4X, and slalom where saddles are more for steering than sitting. the Formula MT sounds promising for longer ride set-ups.
ive always loved the sdg seats and post, never had any troubles with them in the comfort area either, i raced many pro xc races. but like grips they are subject to personal preferences, i for one am stoked on all the choices that they have for seats style , seatpost material and lots of colours(or colors-depending on what side of the boarder ur on) cant wait to try the newest seats out ,im sure they will be sick!
I used to rip off seat pans like crazy with any railed seat I tried, the SDG I-Beam has lasted me 2 full seasons and I'm ready for a new one. They are tough as hell, if you want a DH seat that will stand up to punishment then by an SDG you won't regret it.
