Totem continues the wave of creativity in model year 2010 and offers up a new feel for riders that crave gravity. RockShox has worked diligently on the finer points concerning the updated Totem, the most exciting change being the addition of a new damper, Mission Control DH. Mission Control DH trades the floodgate in standard Mission Control for a high flow compression piston to optimize descent-oriented bump performance. This new damper is shared with Lyrik and BoXXer platforms and is the performance answer to spirited descents.
Totem is aimed at the rider who takes their ride from the trail to the air. With the standard Mission Control damper you can toggle between efficient climbing and big drop performance with the turn of a knob. Mission Control and Mission Control DH dampers offer high and low speed compression adjustment with the durable and elegant feel of a shimmed damper design.
The damping system is not the only element enhanced for freeride’s strongest-performing fork. The Maxle Lite joins this burly 40mm chassis to shave an impressive 40% off the weight of the standard Maxle. Totem’s prowess is enhanced by a redesigned Solo Air spring and the re-introduction of 2-Step travel adjust system.
The RockShox engineers gained a fair amount of insight during the development of this fork. The Power Bulge, which trickled throughout the RockShox line, was first developed for the Totem. The freerider’s need for a higher level of stiffness and durability in a single crown fork leads to improvements for all riders.
The Totem platform became the creative outlet for the highly technical side of RockShox suspension design, while also being the most artistic fork in the line. Totem’s artsy side shines through its graphics and yearly released sticker packs. The original Totem artwork and sticker packs were created by DH Pendalton and sticker pack updates have been created by Peter Fowler and Michael Salter. For 2010 Cody Hudson of Struggle Inc, got the nod to redesign the Totem graphic and sticker pack (V4.0). His unique outlook on this project resulted in a strong and customizable artistic statement.
Totem carries the hard-hitting 180mm of travel you need to take chances and deal with tire buzzing steeps. If that is the type of riding you do, there is a Totem that fits your needs. With multiple Mission Control dampers, three spring systems (2-Step Air, Solo Air, Coil) and three different steerers (1 1/8”, 1.5”, tapered), the choice is yours!

It looks like they have pout so much effort into improving it, Looks Great!
I've been waiting for an update to the totem for a while. They really are setting the standard for long travel single crowns now, looks lush. C'mon fox where's the competition?

So are the seals going to be better or what i'm on my 3rd set from my 07's Solo Air. I see so many with blown seals and Boxers kinda makes not want to buy them again.
switch to Enduro seals, I know a lot of people hate them for some reason, but I've run them on two of the forks I've owned and they've been a massive improvement - last longer, less friction, 10x better sealing!
man these totems are light 6.3lb and 5.8lb thats almost as light as my lyrik but way beefier! may have to try these out
I wonder if I can slap this new 2010 Mission Control cartridge in my '09 Coil? I like the feel of the Totem, but the Mission Control cartridge is a pile of crap that shoots oil out the top like a friggin' oil rig......hoping maybe this 2010 cartridge solves that problem. Man, if Fox would just make a single crown version of the DH40.......
dude same here, my 09 was juicing from the day I got it. I'm still waiting on what RS is going to do.
Totems are the best SC forks on the market, the coil is fantastic but the fact is that RS almost put 200mm travel on these SC forks is pretty sick. You cain't go wrong with 180mm travel on a SC fork.
Look pretty nice, but anit gonna be as good as the 2010 Marzocchi 66 RC3 Ti, heck the Ti is lighter than the 2-Step, and its a full coil open bath system
marzo breaks and takes years to warranty in the states.
i hear there is some nice marzo rep cnter up in canada, but for my money and time,
marzo never again!

You think its bad in America? My god id KILL to have a Marz warrenty centre like them here in Aus, the one we got is a complete joke, besides marz is determined to get their shit right for 2010, and if you look at the reviews of past totems, you will find that they werent a shinning becon of reliability either
My dad has the Mission COntrol DH Dampaner in his lyrik and so far its not too bad. Will be very nice when it breaks in .

My Totem solo air was excellent until it stayed down its travel. Rock Shock took a good 2 months to fix my fork because the first time they fixed it (2 weeks wait) it blew on my first ride on the first run. The second time I did not want to mess with it after the extreme long wait time so i gave up on the fork and sold it as soon as it came back.
No more totem for me. My experience with my totem solo air was enough to give up on RS.

I've wanted a burly Totem for a while, but they are infamous for breaking down often and being unreliable, as you said. On the other hand the Totem has a solid reputation for being thee freeride/DH single crown of choice. It’s very confusing!!

well not really, you can just make it stiff for pedalling, and then soft for DH/FRing.
i prefer talas, just wish there was a forty talas single crown.....
where you at fox???????
really where?????
probably the races! haha
