Just got word from the fine folks at Point of View Cameras that there is now a Firmware upgrade for the GoPro Hero Wide 5MP camera.
The new firmware version includes the following benefits:
- Improved auto exposure processing to help in extreme bright lighting conditions (like snow covered slopes)
- Allows camera to record to larger SD cards (up to 8GB) and you can now record up to 4GB in one file.

Nice that they'll let you go to the 4/8 GB. Although the batteries will only last for about 2 hours (energizer e2 lithiums), and that's like 4GB.
Full disclosure - I'm a newbie and own Ice Planter a store that sells action sports cameras. That said, I have information on GoPro cameras that may help PinkBike readers get the most out of the camera and protect your images and video. Here it goes...
GoPro Firmware Update - We've posted instructions and download links to the official GoPro firmware update for the GoPro Hero Wide cameras. The GoPro firmware link is http://site.iceplanter.com/GoPro-4GB-Flash-Memory-Firmware-Update
We've also posted a tip sheet for GoPro cameras (http://site.iceplanter.com/GoPro-customer-support-tip-sheet.htm) that will help get the most out of the camera and the data. If you have suggestions additions or corrections, please let me know.
If you've had ANY problems with the GoPro Hero Wide camera after updating the firmware please let me know so we can troubleshoot and advise our customers, I can be reached at support@iceplanter.com or 877-499-3580.
If you have any questions about the GoPro cameras I'd be happy to try to answer them, feel free to also refer to our Unofficial GoPro Guide... www.site.iceplanter.com/GoPro-customer-support-tip-sheet.htm
I hope this helps,
Adam
