e.thirteen Athletes Sweep the US Open
May 28, 2008Published by acadianIf you were looking for e.thirteen athletes at the US Open last weekend, chances are that you'd see them huddled around the podium area. Both men's and women's pro downhill podiums were filled with e.thirteen riders, as the chain retention system performed flawlessly on its home soil.
e.thirteen proudly unveiled their revolutionary new Staccato 8 prototype this past weekend, a platform pedal that has been in development for some time. The new pedal design was definitely the buzz within the e.thirteen rider appreciation tent, which had ping pong tables, lounge chairs, and TV screens displaying Lucent Production's latest video offering, Free Delivery. The rider appreciation lounge was open to all riders and gave them a place to relax between race runs, get a drink of water, work on their bikes, and stay out of the sun. For more information about the Staccato 8, head over to the e.thirteen website, or just search your favorite forum! The race action over the weekend was intense, with Cove's Steve Smith upsetting race favorite Sam Hill in the downhill finals. Smith made a name for himself at last year's Open, and came back to New Jersey again this year with the intention of unseating the world's fastest racer, Monster Energy/Iron Horse's Sam Hill. Steve was able to do just that, with a .5 second gap ahead of Hill for the win! Steve and Sam were joined on the podium by fellow e.thirteen athletes: Bryn Atkinson, Matti Lehikoinen, and Andrew Neethling. The women's downhill podium was also loaded with e.thirteen athletes, with Fionn Griffiths in first, followed by Kathy Pruitt and Joanna Petterson. e.thirteen athletes gave their all in the dual slalom, where spectators cheered into the night. On a night where anyone could have taken home first, MS-Intense's JD Swanguen was throwing huge roosts in the corners on the way to second place. He was followed by Specialized's Kyle Strait and GT's Bryn Atkinson who were both completely pinned in third and fourth places. Women's slalom was swept by e.thirteen athletes as well, with Norco's Fionn Griffiths in first and Jamis's Kathy Pruitt in second. Congrats also go out to men's amateur downhill winner and e.thirteen rider, Neko Mullaly, who put down an amazing 2:48 time in the downhill, good enough for top 20 in pro! At 15 years old, impressive is the only word to use for Neko. Go to Freecaster.tv to check out more coverage of the US Open, presented by e.thirteen. Keep an eye out for additional e.thirteen-sponsored tech session videos from the World Cup and World Championships, also on Freecaster.tv. Freecaster will be broadcasting the World Cup and World Championship events to the USA starting this weekend from Andorra. e.thirteen rules the freeride and downhill industry, hands down. and there products are found on some of the most dominating riders in the sport.
did anyone realize that they pretty much don't have a bike out their without an E.13..at least on the Pro Downhill Circuit...theirs like nobody without one..maybe like nathan rennie or some shit..him and his like MRP *shudder*...
Fionn Griffiths Dominated in the women races, That's good for Norco!!
Nice guides.......that void frame warranties!!!!!!!!!
woo hoo, those chain guides must make a huge difference in how fast you can ride,
I stopped being a huge fan of e.13 when my supercharger cracked at the bolts and found out that the tacos cost just as much as a bashring but they are 1/4 the size

Dave Weagle is a genius. Someone give him a medal
the winner was not on a dw . he was on a shocker and he spanked sam hills ass. but yeah dw's do kick ass
yeah but evil is DW's company
no sam crashed at the top loosing at least 10 seconds so i wouldnt really call it spanked, sam school him, without the crash it wouldav been a 10sec+ win
either way the fact that sams got someone thats coming that close to him must be unnerving
im glad smith won but hill definatly dominated qualifying and if he didnt mess up in his race run, he could of taken it. there were a lot of worthy competitors though, thats why was such a good race.
not hard to figure out, hill crashed, and lost only by .5 of a second, smith got lucky!
