New Brand spotted at the Sea Otter: The Hive
by acadian

Established earlier this year, The Hive is a company formed of avid cyclist committed to improve cyclists experience with innovative products. They picked the Sea Otter classic to give people a sneak peak of what they have to offer.
Thus far The Hive have a fairly limited product line – fixed gear hubs and singlespeed hubs, but I've been told they got a lot of cool stuff coming down the pipe!
Massive rear flanges mated to a mighty carbon tube increase torsional stiffness and fatigue life, minimize windup. Spoke stress is decreased 70% over conventional high flange hubs.
· Stout 15mm 7075 Aluminum through axle
· Smooth rolling sealed ball bearings
· Massive clamping force provided by twin M10 Ti Screws
· Optimized fiber orientation for torque transfer between flanges

· 296 grams
Chub singlespeed disc hubs incorporate the technical advantages of our track hubs into an ISO disc compatible, thread on singlespeed hub.

The SS cranks by The Hive are still in development but they hope to have them ready by this fall. The name of the crankset is still to be determined.

Promising indeed. Digging the fatass flanges and rims
I've been a longtime fan of Chub hubs. Got a set back in the day for my fixey and they are still going strong. The guy who sold them to me was an east-coaster, a real prick...but they have been one of the best purchases I've made. The curvey disc ones look really elegant.
